ENEMIES AT DEATH’S GATE? Summary from Manchester, CT, Part 2

The group visited a house in Manchester, CT, where the family had been hearing strange voices, observing unusual behavior with their pets, and had experienced physical contact. This is Part Two of the story about what occurred during our visit, based on our readings, observations and experiences. The mediums had no prior knowledge of any of the spirits in the home. For best results, read Part One first.

Darlene had to make sure she read that correctly. She responded, “They’re not going to eat her. The light is the good place, where your family is waiting for you.”

Sara also tried to convince him that the light was good – but he wasn’t buying it.

I see them in there with weapons.

Darlene asked him again to look for his wife and kids.

No, you are crazy!

Jen asked for his children’s names.

Billy Jr., Tim.

She continued. “Are they still alive?”

I don’t know.

When we first started and heard about the armed men in the light, I thought the best way to move him through was to eliminate them, and replace what he was seeing with his loved ones. But after a few minutes of going back and forth with him, I was thinking it might not work. But we kept at it.

I told Billy, “If you look into the light long enough, the people with the knives will start to go away.”

Yeah, they will hide, come out and rip me to pieces.

Darlene said, “They won’t hurt you.”

I then explained how the light works – they cannot come out, the people he was seeing were probably waiting for someone else, and will get out of the way if you need to pass through.

Liar! You work for them.

We kept going back and forth with no progress. He was too scared and did not want to believe what we were telling him. Then Jen had an idea — she started asking about his military service. Did he know the armed men on the other side? As it turned out, Billy did serve, and was possibly a WWII veteran. Which led me to think just possibly, the armed men on the other side were not his enemies – they were his fellow soldiers. Continuing with this theme, Darlene asked if he had a best friend in the war, and Crystal said Johnny. I explained to Billy that they were trying to show him something that was familiar to him. I asked him to call for his unit, for his friend Johnny, and for his commanding officer. He saw his CO almost immediately, and Crystal could see them talking with each other.

As they talked, he began to identify other members of his unit, and he recognized an American flag in the light.

That did it. He left so quickly that we didn’t realize it right away. And Tabitha wasted no time – she was right behind him –and left seconds later.

Cindy and James were back in the living room when we returned from the basement. As they were best friends, and were mostly staying together, we decided to do our next EVP session in the living room with the two of them. Darlene started with James.

Do you know where you are? Maggie’s home.
What year were you born? 1934.
Where did you grow up? Bristol.
How did you pass away? Fell through ice.
Were you religious? No.

Darlene asked James, “Have you seen a bright light anywhere?”

Upstairs. [Son’s] room is full of bright light.

We knew that this wasn’t the light we were looking for – that was Robert protecting the son’s room. We would ask Cindy if she had seen one when we were done with James.

Then the video camera shut off on its own – but not before sending a surge of energy through Jen. Sara asked James if he had shut off the camera – he told Crystal that he had, and that he was camera shy.

Darlene then asked James if he wanted to leave. Crystal told us he wasn’t going anywhere without Cindy, and mumbled something to Crystal about BFFs. We still hadn’t found their light, so Darlene started asking Cindy questions.

What is your name? Cindy.
Why are you here? I miss Patrick (my father)
Did you live here? No.
Are there any other spirits here? Yes.
Do you want to leave or stay here? Wait for Patrick.
Were you married? No, too young.
Did you have children? No. I’m too young.
What did you do for work? No work.

I interrupted Darlene and asked Cindy her age – according to Crystal, she was 16.

Are you angry or happy? Want Patrick.
Are you sad or lonely? Yes, yes.
Are you hurting right now? Yes.
Do you know what year it is? 1971.
Do you know where you are? No.
What year were you born? 1953
Where did you grow up? East Hampton
How did you pass away? Car crash.

Cindy told Crystal that she was from Long Island and that James was her best friend – in death. Darlene asked Cindy if she had seen any bright lights, and Cindy left the room to find it. When she returned, she told Crystal she found it – and with no surprise to anyone on the team – it was over the bathtub, as in so many of our investigations.

The team led both Cindy and James upstairs to the bathroom, and I asked them both if they could see the light.

First, I asked Cindy to look into the light and call for her father. She immediately found him – Patrick. We asked James what he could see, and he told Crystal that Cindy had just left. I then asked him to call for Maggie, his fiancé – he was really upset, and kept trying to find her. He saw someone in a long dress coming towards him – Crystal said it looked like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz – who turned out to be his sister. He wanted to know where Maggie was, and I told him that his sister should be able to help find her. He was unable to hear Dorothy until he put his hand into the light. Once he extended his hand to her, he was able to hear her telling him that he did not belong with us and needed to come with her. Instead, he unsuccessfully tried to pull his sister out of the light.

James did not want to go – he wanted to wait for Maggie. He believed she would come home, as he believed it was her house. I told him that it wasn’t her home any more, and she would not be back. The problem was Maggie was still alive. His sister told him that he couldn’t wait for her to come back, and that Maggie didn’t even know he was waiting for her in the client’s house. The only way he would be able see Maggie would be for him to go with her. I said to him that he needed to trust his sister.

He put one foot in the light, only to quickly pull it back. But then he tightly gripped his sister’s hand, said thank you, and left.

I could feel a spike in my head as he went through.

They were the last – or so we thought, not remembering that Robert had told us there were six.

I still felt there was something in the daughter’s bedroom. We entered the room, and I began to understand why I couldn’t focus on what was there – it was moving too fast. Again, I asked repeatedly who was in the room, and made sure to tell whatever it was that we could hear them.

Finally, she spoke up. Her name was Annie.

Annie was a five-year-old girl who liked to play with dolls. All she wanted to do was play, like an average five-year-old. As she was so young, we had to be careful what we asked – we didn’t want to hurt or scare her, which might make it difficult to reunite her with her parents. Doubting that we would get an answer as to what year she believed it was, Sara and I asked her about television, radio, and the look of the dolls she was playing with. Based on her answers, we felt that she had passed sometime in the late 1960s.

She thought she was alive, and that her parents were sleeping in the next room.

I had no idea how we would pass her – telling her she was dead wasn’t an option. How would we convince her to enter the light? It would have to be compelling enough for her to follow our direction, and we had to be careful not to upset her in any way. I had to think this through. I didn’t want to get thrown out of a room.

We went to talk to Robert back in the master bedroom, to see if he had any suggestions. I asked him if he could help, and he told Crystal that he couldn’t – it wasn’t why he was here. But while we were sitting on the bed, I started feeling this energy behind me – dark, low and distracting. It made me feel very uncomfortable, and I had to get out of the room.

– – –

After taking a break outside, I went back into the living room – I was sure there was one last spirit in the house, and Robert had told us there were six. Feeling like it was nearby, I started yelling at this spirit, trying to convince it to talk to us. What I didn’t know was that this spirit couldn’t talk.

Nor could he breathe.

Crystal was seeing images of a man in a fire. He believed he was still trapped in the flames and smoke. I tried to tell him that he could breathe, and there was no smoke. Jen told him to stay close to the floor. I asked him to take my hand, as I wanted to lead him outside. But it wasn’t working – he wouldn’t take my hand, or hold onto my leg as I asked him – he wouldn’t move.

Next, I tried to tell him that our group around him was breathing and not on fire. I told him that it was his imagination, and he had the power to make it all go away. I asked him to close his eyes, and picture himself surrounded by white light.

It didn’t work.

I decided to point out the contradiction – that it didn’t make sense he couldn’t breathe, but he was able to think and respond. Going from this, I then told him he was dreaming, and he could shake it off. After about a minute, he started coming out of it.

Now we could get somewhere.

Crystal was able to tell us his name was Vinnie – but he was having difficulty remembering much else. He could not remember his wife or children’s names, what he thought was the current year – but he was able to recall that he was born around 1921.

It was tough to get him to stand up. Because of his inability to remember, it seemed he wanted to stay where he was and thus stayed low on the floor. After a little coercing, we were able to get him to stand up, and we led him to the bathroom. Making sure he followed, I asked him if he could see the light. Crystal said it was extremely painful for him to look. Thinking the light would heal him, I had him put his hand into it.

Crystal said his hand was in the light, and she could feel him getting better – his eyes were starting to recover, and he was now able to look into the light, but only barely. He was able to see people walking, and I had him call for his mother to meet him. Crystal was able to see a crowd of people, and she described seeing a huge room, full of doors. He started looking for his wife – I asked him again what her name was, but he was still unable to remember. Instead, I had him call for a generic pet name – honey – and he was finally able to see someone approaching him – his wife, who he was able to recognize.

Ten seconds later, he was gone.

– – –

I don’t know how it came to me, but for some reason I now knew exactly how we would pass Annie.

I told Annie that I wanted to show her something.

She was afraid that she would wake her parents up. I told her that they were already up and we had been talking to her. I then told her that they had already gone somewhere, and we had to show her where they were.

An amusement park.

Bringing one of her dolls with her, Annie came into the bathroom with us, and we led her to the light. Having her peer into it, I told her that her parents were there, waiting, and I asked her to look for them. I told her that they wanted us to bring her to them.

I started calling for mommy and daddy, and Crystal told us she was doing the same. After about a minute, Annie could see them – but they were really far away. I kept calling for them with her and said, “We’re at this entrance.”

I could feel her moving really fast around me, almost going around in circles as she had done in the client’s daughter’s room. Crystal could see Annie looking at elephants and a ferris wheel. Annie saw other amusement park rides, and her parents were also getting closer.

Finally, Crystal said that her parents were talking to her. She could hear Annie saying, “Take me on the rides!” She then left with her parents.

– – –

One last time, we went to see Robert. He told Crystal that we had moved all six along, and all that was left was the spirit of a dog in the basement. As for why he was in the house, Robert told us it was an assignment, and was sent by elders. A Level 4 spirit, Robert had been doing this for a long time, at least since his last incarnation in 1832. Robert had been his name at the time.
