We’d like to welcome our newest researcher – Darlene.
Darlene grew up in Hebron, CT until she was 12. She then moved to Manchester, CT and until recently lived in the nearby towns for most of her life. She is now in New Haven, CT and is starting a new chapter in her life.
Darlene says, “I remember as a young child, and as I got older, my father telling me stories about his mother and grandfather. After both of their deaths, he experienced different sounds and smells related to them. Those stories always stuck with me, and made me think about the afterlife and what happens once someone passes on.
Darlene doesn’t believe everyone goes straight to heaven. “Some people have unfinished business or other reasons for staying with us. I’ve worked in heathcare with the elderly for the last fifteen years and it has always amazed me how people know when they are going to die. Whether it is the sale of their house, or waiting for a certain person to visit. After whatever it is they are waiting for happens, they pass on peacefully.”
Her first experience with spirits was when she used to clean a funeral home. “ I would get a sense on uneasiness and the hair on the back of my neck would stand up.” At other times there would be a sense of total peace. “I found out from the homeowner that their children used to experience different unexplained events. I came to the conclusion that the days I felt the uneasiness were the days that the spirits didn’t want to be disturbed. One day I was cleaning downstairs and I had this gut feeling to look up, and there was a man standing at the top of the stairs staring down at me, watching what I was doing. He only showed himself for a few moments and that was it. I never saw him again after that.”
So from hearing stories as a young child and her own experiences, Darlene has always been curious about spirits and what happens after death. She enjoys learning about it and looks forward to learning even more.
