The group visited the Charlemont Inn on July 11, 2010, in Charlemont, MA. This location has had numerous types of reported unexplainable phenomena. This is some of what we discovered during our visit, based on our readings, observations and experiences. The medium had no prior knowledge of any of the spirits in the building or any of the reported activity.
Nestled deep in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, the Charlemont Inn has been operating since 1767. Many famous people have stayed here, including Mark Twain and Calvin Coolidge. It continues to operate to this day as a restaurant and bed and breakfast. One of our members, Jennifer, had heard about this location, and asked the current owner if we could investigate.
They said yes.
The team, which consisted of Jen, Sara, myself and two guests, made the trek to Charlemont. The drive was uneventful, and we all met in the parking lot of the inn. Grabbing our gear, we entered the building and started scanning for any earthbound spirits.
Starting at the ground floor, I started tracking a spirit that kept running around the foyer, in what seemed like circles. There was also a man, about 5’8,” standing in the rear of one of the dining areas. I also identified a small child, female, hiding down a dead end hallway behind the kitchen.
Moving upstairs, I was surprised to find that I was pointed to not one, but two spirits that appeared to be residing in room 23. It seemed that one was a rather short spirit that I took to be a child or young adult, tending to the second spirit that was lying on the bed. We set up cameras and Sara also set up an unattended EVP recording.
Continuing our search for any other spirits sharing rooms with paying guests, we found that the following rooms also appeared to have unexpected company: rooms 7, 14, 19 and 21. We also visited the basement and discovered there was another spirit in the room with the oil tank. Not the nicest place, but I assume some spirits cannot smell diesel fuel.
We decided to focus on rooms 23 and 19. The first EVP session we held was in room 19, and the spirit was sitting on the couch in this room. We introduced ourselves and asked if we could ask some questions. We were only able to pick up several answers.

We weren’t able to hear much else from this spirit. We also tried to use a modified radio to see if we could hear the spirit directly, but we were unsuccessful.
We then moved on to room 23, and ran another EVP session. Again, we introduced ourselves and asked nicely if we could ask some questions. We were able to get a few more answers this time.

We stayed for a few more minutes, and tried once more to get either of these spirits to come through the modified radio, but once again we were not successful. And by this time, it was just getting too warm with the afternoon sun and no air conditioning.
So after a brief respite in the restaurant area while drinking large quantities of water, and a short talk with the spirit watching the back door, we collected our equipment and left – the heat and humidity had taken its toll, and it left each of us exhausted.
But it felt good.

Afterwards…
After the investigation, we were told the following:
Former resident of Room 14 had reported anomalous activity during the time she lived there.
A woman that frequents the establishment confirmed the little girl that was hiding from her previous experiences; the spirit running around in circles may have been her as well, and she referred to her as Abby.
The name we received from the spirit in room 23 was Angie; this was in fact the name of one of the people that would frequently visit the room and talk to the spirit on the bed. This room visitor had also reported that she believed this woman died from consumption.
There were also a few pieces of evidence that we were able to obtain, that will be posted on August 4th.
