Manchester One and a Half – A Man and His Dog

View of Manchester, CT from Case Mountain

Crystal and I stopped on the side of the road in Manchester, CT, where I had felt something outside the home of a previous investigation. This is what occurred during our visit, based on our readings, observations and experiences. We had no prior knowledge of any of the vegetation, waterways or insects. As a matter of fact, it was dark and raining the last time we were there and we couldn’t see sh*t.

We had a stop to make.

Before going to our second scheduled investigation in Manchester, CT, I asked Crystal to meet me at the site of the first investigation. It had been nagging me since we had left, and hadn’t had an opportunity to visit the area until now.

There was something in the woods.

As we were leaving the last time, I could feel there was something beyond the front door of the home – which faced the wooded area behind the house. Standing on the side of the road, I tried to find out where the energy was coming from – it seemed to be inside the woods, up a small stream. However, in my infinite wisdom, I had worn flip flops on my feet – not the best for walking in the woods, but excellent for collecting ticks.

So, there we were, standing at the curb, peering into the woods. There was something low and moving, and I asked Crystal what she could hear.

Barking. It was a dog.

Just to see what would happen, I pointed to the left and told the dog to lie down. Sure enough, the energy moved to my left and stayed there, low. Good dog. But the dog wasn’t the only one there – there was still something in the woods.

I called out to whatever it was – it was straight ahead, up the stream. Crystal could only hear “leave me alone.” After further prodding, we were able to determine that this was a homeless man, named Dan, who lived in the woods with his dog, Sandy. He had been there since around 1972.

Feeling that over 30 years in the woods was probably long enough, I asked him if he wanted a comfortable bed to sleep in – he told Crystal yes – and from there it was pretty easy. After a few more questions, we were able to find out that he knew the location of the light. He had never gone through it, as he didn’t know what it was for – nor did he know what to do.

After a brief explanation of what happens with the light, Dan decided it was time to get going. Crystal could see that the dog wanted to go through, but Dan wasn’t quite ready yet. It wasn’t until he saw his relatives that he decided it was time to go. And he did.

The whole thing took about 20 minutes, and remained tick-free.
