A DATE WITH DEATH? Summary from Terryville, CT, Part 2

The group visited a home in Terryville, CT on February 20, 2010, where the homeowner had been feeling the presence of multiple spirits, among other experiences. This is Part Two of our story about what occurred during our visit, based on our readings, observations and experiences. The mediums had no prior knowledge of any of the spirits in the home. For best results, read Part One first, and listen to the EVP recordings.

4:55 p.m. We entered the basement to help Nancy. From what we had learned so far, it appeared that many of the spirits currently in the home were either afraid of Nancy or just simply didn’t want to deal with her. Still, our biggest concern was Andrea – we had to move Nancy through in order to clear the way for Andrea to be reunited with her mother.

Beginning a conversation with Nancy through Crystal, I told her we were there to help with whatever it was that was upsetting her. But we had to find out what that was. Crystal then heard, “Get me my boyfriend back.”

I asked, “Which boyfriend?

She told Crystal it was Max.

That wasn’t going to happen. Max had had enough of her, and I told her that Max was angry with her. She told Crystal that she didn’t do anything to him. I said to her that she yelled at him all the time, and he really didn’t like it.

It seemed that all Nancy did was yell. Why?

Nancy was angry because she believed she was stuck in the basement and couldn’t leave. Losing her boyfriend probably didn’t help either.

Darlene said that Max was being a jerk, and I asked her if she wanted not to be stuck any more. She told Crystal she didn’t, and I offered our help. But we needed more information first, so Darlene started asking questions for the EVP session after Nancy agreed.

Did you have children? Yes.
Do you know what year it is? 1993.
What year were you born? 1961.
Your birthday? March 7.
Where did you grow up? I don’t know.
Were you religious? Yes.
What was your daughter’s name? Isabelle.
What were your parents’ names? Henry & Joanna

We now knew enough to help her through, and Darlene asked if she had seen a bright light anywhere nearby. She told Crystal that it was in a doorway. Darlene asked if she could see her daughter Isabelle in this light, and told Crystal that she was trying. But Nancy was not able to see anything or anyone. The light was weak and looked to Crystal like a cloud – and it just wasn’t working. Asking Nancy again, Crystal pointed towards a stone wall where this spirit believed there was another light. But neither Crystal nor Nancy could see it.

On the third try to find the correct light, the client pointed us to an old wooden fireplace housing in the basement, where she had previously felt something. I asked Nancy if it was brighter than the other lights she had seen. She told Crystal yes, and I asked her to call for her parents. She looked into the light and called for her mom; the client and Crystal pictured an older woman with glasses. Nancy recognized this person as her mother, ran into the light, hugged her, and was gone. Quickly.

The light stayed open.

And it was time to reunite Andrea with her mother.

We went back to the client’s bedroom, and Darlene asked Andrea if she wanted to try again to see her mother. She said to Crystal that the light was still too small; we told her we had located another light in the basement and that Nancy had left. Darlene also told her not to worry about Max in the kitchen, as we would lead her by him and would keep her safe.

The team started walking towards the basement door and headed down the stairs. Unfortunately, there was a problem – Andrea stayed in the bedroom. Hoping she was no longer angry with me, I went back and asked her to hold my hand. I led her down into the basement – she was no longer mad, and I could feel her becoming happier as we approached the fireplace area. Darlene asked what her mom’s name was, and Crystal told us it was Teresa.

We reached the light that Nancy had passed through earlier, and Darlene asked Andrea if she could see her mom. She wasn’t able to look into it – it was too bright for her. I showed her how to shield her eyes, and asked her to call for her mother. Crystal could hear her saying “Mommy,” and Darlene asked her if she could see her. She did, and immediately ran to her. Right into the light.

Now for Max and Molly.

5:36 p.m. Back in the kitchen, Max was still hanging out in front of the refrigerator. As usual, we asked him if we could run a few questions by him. He said yes, and Darlene asked some questions for the EVP session.

What is your name? Max.
Are you waiting for something for someone? No.
Did you live here? Yes.
Are there any other spirits here? Yes.

He gave us a list: Molly, Nancy, Andrea, Bobby, Billy and Zoe. That made seven spirits total, including Max.

Do you want to leave or stay? Bored here.
Were you married? No.
Did you have children? No.
What did you do for work? Office supply sales.
Are you angry or happy? No.
Are you sad or lonely? Lonely.
Are you in any pain? Sometimes.
Do you know what year it is? 1987.
When is your birthday? December 2.
Where did you grow up? Michigan.
Were you religious? No.

Darlene asked if there were any relatives he missed, and he told Crystal that there wasn’t really anyone that he was, um, dying to see. He did tell us that he had a brother, and that he missed him sometimes. Darlene then asked him if he wanted to see him, and if he wanted our help in doing so. He told Crystal yes to both questions, and also knew where the light was located, but he refused to go – as the screaming ex-girlfriend Nancy was down there. We let him know that she was gone, and then he finally agreed to follow us into the basement.

Once again, we walked into the basement. I led Max to the fireplace, and Darlene asked him if he could see a bright light. After asking him several times with no response, he finally told Crystal that he could see it. Darlene asked him to call for his brother Joe. He did, and could see people walking back and forth in the light – but none that he was able to identify. He then saw them walking away. I asked him to call for his parents at that point, and seconds later he saw his mother, appearing to be extremely old. He said to Crystal, “How is this possible?” He was shocked and didn’t understand how it worked.

Crystal heard him say “Hi mom,” and heard his mother’s reply, “Hey sweetie.” But he was still too scared to step in.

His mother walked up to the opening of the light and she reached out to him. He put his hand into the light, and they held hands. He then noticed his dad approaching. Putting his arm around his mother, the three of them started to walk away. And they were gone.

Before going to help Molly, we decided to talk to the two men in the living room – the ones that didn’t want to be discovered. As Max told Crystal, their names were Bobby and Billy, and they were a couple. The client had told us it was okay to help them if they wanted to leave, and Darlene gave them this option. Crystal told us that they were both scared but willing, and Darlene tried to reassure them that there was nothing to be afraid of. They already knew that Nancy was gone – so their only fear was actually going into the light.

For the umpteenth time, we went back to the basement.

Darlene showed Bobby and Billy the fireplace, and put her hand into the light area to show them that it was safe. Crystal had earlier found out several parents’ names, Harold and Jackie, and I asked them both to call for them. They couldn’t see them immediately, and I said that it could take several minutes for them to appear.

It was actually a few seconds.

They ran up to Harold and Jackie as soon as they saw them, and left immediately.

That left Molly.

6:07 p.m. One more time, we came out of the basement, and walked into the stairwell where we had talked to Molly earlier. We each introduced ourselves, and asked her if it was okay to ask some questions.  She told Crystal that it was fine, and Darlene started our last EVP session of the evening.

What is your name? Molly.
Why are you here? I don’t know.
Did you live here? I think so.
Are there any other spirits here? Max, Nancy.

We let her know that Nancy and Max were gone.

Do you want to leave or stay here? Leave.
Were you married? No.
Did you have children? No.
What did you do for work? Secretary & college.
Are you angry or happy? No, bored.
Are you sad or lonely? Lonely.
Do you know what year it is? 1952.
What year were you born? 1931.
Where did you grow up? I don’t know.
Were you religious? A little.

Darlene went on to ask her if there was anyone in particular that she missed, and she told Crystal that she missed her boyfriend and mother, Patricia. Darlene asked if the boyfriend was Max.

Crystal said, “Not Max! Charlie!”

Molly told Crystal that Charlie was her boyfriend before she had passed. Darlene then asked her if she wanted to see Charlie and her mother again. Crystal told us that her biggest fear was Nancy, and we assured her once more that both Nancy and Max were gone.

After that, it was easy to get her to follow us.

As we went into the basement for the last time, I pointed out to Molly that it was quiet – no more screaming. She continued to walk with us toward the fireplace. Molly was having difficulty looking at the light, as it was incredibly bright to her. Darlene told her to cover her eyes with one hand, and to put her other hand into the light. She told Crystal that the light felt good to her.

Darlene then asked Molly to call for her mom, and she called for both her and Charlie. She uncovered her eyes, and could see her mom coming towards her, holding the hand of a small child. I asked Molly if she had a sister, possibly one that died at a young age. Crystal told us that she did in fact have a sister, but Molly was unable to recall if she had passed at a young age.

As Molly’s mother reached the opening of the light, she took Molly’s hand. Molly was now sure that it was her mother. She stepped in, hugged her mom, and left the client’s home.

And shortly after, so did we, with exhaustion, satisfaction, and the knowledge that dating in the spirit world can be just as complicated as in ours…
