TIE-DIED? Summary from Middletown, CT II, Part 2

We visited a home in Middletown, CT, where the client had recently lost her husband. She was hearing unexplained noises and could feel a presence around her. This is Part 2 of our story of what occurred during our visit, based on our readings, observations and experiences. For best results, read Part 1 first.

After being thwarted by Emily, we went back into the basement to check under the stairwell. Timothy was still there, as he was before, afraid to move and hiding as far back as he could. Just the idea that there was a small, traumatized child under the stairs was distressing.

Darlene and Crystal started the EVP question and answer session with Timothy, to help us with moving him through the light. Timothy was showing Crystal pictures and she drew them in the margins of the paper as she recorded Timothy’s answers.

What is you name? Timothy
Why are you here? Hiding.
Are you waiting for something? Dad to leave.
Did you live here? Yes.
Are there any other people here besides us? My dad is here. Waiting for my mom to get home.
Do you want to leave here? Yes
Are you angry? Yes.
Are you happy? No.
Are you sad? Yes.
Are you lonely? Yes.
Do you feel okay? No.
Do you know what year it is? No.
Do you know where you are? Under the stairs.
Where are your parents? Grocery shopping.
What’s your favorite cartoon? Sammy, Spongebob.
Where is your favorite place to go? Grandma’s.
What’s your favorite game? Nintendo Zelda.

After finishing up with the questions, we decided not to wait. We would try to reunite him with his mother immediately. Crystal and Darlene sat with him in the crawlspace, and Darlene asked him if he wanted to see his mother again. He said yes, so she told him we would be able to help reunite the two of them. But being so afraid of his father, he was reluctant to leave the crawlspace.

After Crystal and Darlene comforted him and told him he would be safe, the three of them left the crawlspace. They got to the stairs, and I noticed that he wasn’t with them any more.

He had gone back into the crawlspace.

I then joined him. Once again, I told him he would be safe, and reminded him that his father was not in the house. Feeling like he needed a little extra support, I asked him to hold my hand, and we slowly left the basement.

Crystal knew the light was in the bathroom.

We led Timothy up to the top floor, and Darlene asked him if he wanted to see some puppies. He told Crystal he would like that, so we entered the master bedroom to see the four dogs. Crystal could tell that it made him very happy, as the puppies excitedly jumped around. We were all glad that Timothy was able to feel some joy while he was still here, and hopefully he was able to forget about his father for at least a few brief moments.

It was time to go. With Crystal holding one of the puppies in her arms, we walked down the hall, entering the bathroom and brought Timothy to the location of the light. Timothy tried his best, but could not look at the light as it was extremely bright to him. I suggested he put his hands over his eyes and look through the fingers. We had him call to his mother, but he was unable to hear or see her. After several minutes and having Timothy yell, he eventually heard her voice and slowly reached into the light to touch her. He was gone shortly thereafter.

Back to Emily.

Emily was still upset. We wanted to talk with her without her running away, and hoped she would not be as angry as she was earlier. As we entered the room, both Crystal and I saw Emily on the floor, crouching with her head in her hands. It appeared that she had finally realized what happened, and was in no shape to run.

I asked if she wanted to see her mother – and to our relief, she said yes. Holding out my hand, I asked her to take it so we could lead her to the light. She took my hand and stood up, keeping her head down as we walked. We entered the same room where Timothy moved on, and as we approached the light, Crystal noted that it had moved from its previous location. We each asked Emily to call to her mom, and waited.

Nothing.

We had her scream for her mother multiple times, and she tried to reach into the light.

Still nothing, and Crystal could tell Emily was getting frustrated.

Now Emily was starting to get angry once more, showing Crystal that she wanted to hit me with a shampoo bottle. My major concern was that she would storm out of the room, and we would not be able to help her that evening, if ever. My minor concern was that Crystal would be driven to kick me in the knee.

At last, her mother arrived.

It was slow going. We kept trying to convince her to grab her mother’s hand, but Emily was reluctant. She started taking more steps towards the light, but very slowly. She was finally close enough to reach in, and their hands met. Taking a few more steps while holding her mother’s hand, she eventually went through.

During this time, Crystal had noticed something strange. As we were helping Emily pass, Crystal extended her arm into the space where she could see the light. As she was doing this, she said she could feel a surge of healing energy entering her body. This had never happened before. What was it? Would it happen again? Was she just feeling what Emily was feeling?

We were finally done with returning Emily and Timothy, so Crystal, Darlene, the client and I entered the master bedroom to conclude the evening with James.

Darlene asked about the urn and if it was James making the noise. He told Crystal that he frequently stood by the urn, trying to read the poem next to the cross in front of it. Crystal could tell how frustrated he was with his inability to see what it said, and how important it was for him to know. He also believed that the urn contained his ashes. Darlene said that the ashes were those of the client’s husband, and not his. Darlene then asked why he stayed around the client, and then it came out – he told Crystal he was her husband. He went on to say that the reason he was there was to watch over her.

The client told us it was okay to pick up the box with the poem.

I read it to James, and we fulfilled his wish.

After the investigation, we sat down with the client. They were able to tell us the following:

  • The husband, who went by Greg, had a son named James. This was one of the names that Crystal was told.
  • The name of Pancho – the client told us that she and Greg had been planning for some time to go to Mexico, but never made it. There had also been a Mexican-themed bar in the basement with the red fingerpainted walls, and the client had recently traveled to Mexico.
  • The client told us that the muscle car Greg described to Crystal in the photo referred to a GTO that he had owned for many years.
  • The client confirmed that the incomplete project in the basement was a walk-in freezer that Greg had been working on; it had since been removed.
  • Greg had told Crystal that the first room we visited in the basement had been painted a new color. This was also confirmed by the client.
  • There had been a riding mower under the porch. Again, confirmed by client.
  • The adjoining doors in the basement that led to the same room had previously been two separate rooms. The client informed us that this wall was removed after Greg passed.

We were unable to detect any significant EVPs from the audio recorded at the time of the investigation.
