MURDER MOST HAUNTED I – Hammonasset Summary Part 1

PrintMadison, Connecticut, 1992 – Linda Rayner, 43, was in Connectricut visiting family when she went to Hammonasset State Park. They found her body in a remote part of the beach, and her skull appeared to be crushed.

This is the story of what occurred during our visit, based on our readings, observations and experiences.

MURDER MOST HAUNTED I – Hammonasset Beach

A cold, beautiful day at Hammonasset State Park, in Madison, CT. Wind chill was high. Beach was mostly deserted. What would we find?

More than we thought.

East Beach

As the group met in the parking lot, Sara began to explain what had been researched for the first stop on the Murder Most Haunted tour. Crystal, a guest sensitive and myself stepped away from the group while Sara explained. As we walked away from the parking lot, Crystal started hearing music.

And could see people dancing.

She could hear the song “Day-O,” and could see a group of spirits dancing to it. She told us they all seemed happy, and were enjoying the music. Of course, for the next two hours, none of us could get the song out of our heads.

The group reformed, and I looked around. There was a path to the left. For some reason, my head kept pointing in that direction. This was new to me.

I knew right where to go. Well, almost.

The group headed down the path towards the beach. We reached the sand, and I was still being pointed in a direction down the beach. I followed my intuition, and took what I would call a bit of a crazy, zigzag path. We stopped, and I asked Crystal “Is this it?”

She was told to tell me, “No. Follow your heart.”

I looked ahead, and I saw it. A tree on the left.
Before even reaching the tree, Crystal started hearing messages from a helper spirit. She was told that there was a ghost named Jeremy who needed our help. Jeremy had been trapped on this beach for 21 years, and had already been told we would be coming to help him.

We reached the tree, and Crystal could see him lying there. It was apparent he had drowned. Wearing a bathing suit, his tall, thin body was blue, wet and had very little movement. We tried to talk to him, but he was unable to respond. I told him he was able to talk, and I tried to have him start breathing slowly. Crystal could taste the salt as he started clearing the seawater from his lungs.

He was eventually able to talk to us, but he was still on the ground, kneeling. Crystal could see him clutching my leg. I tried to talk him into standing up, and Crystal determined that he just needed a pull – so she pulled him up onto his feet. Now upright, we asked him if he wanted to leave the beach. He responded yes.

And so we walked him off the beach, at a slow and easy pace. As we were walking, he said repeatedly that he needed to find his wife, Marie. It was time to find his light.

But it was not what we expected.

Crystal could see the light at the pavilion on the beach. We reached the building, and had to look around to find it. We moved up onto the deck, and there it was – at the top of the stairs. We asked him if he could see any of his loved ones, and for him to call for them. He said he didn’t have the energy to yell for them – I told him to just call gently, as they were waiting for him. He finally saw his parents, and then passed through the light.

The light did not close.

Crystal and I looked at each other, and my first thought was that it was another trick – we had encountered this before where a spirit had tried to make us believe they went through the light but they hadn’t. However, Crystal was told this was normal – there were fourteen more spirits on the beach that needed to pass through. Crystal, the guest sensitive and myself stood at the top of these stairs. We could feel a warmth, just above our feet, in the spot where the light was.

Darlene then told us we had to go to West Beach, not knowing why. She just knew. Why?
